Hunterston Test Centre for Offshore Wind (HTCOW) is found in the and came online in 2014. . It is run by Scottish Enterprise.
It has been built in around 10 metres of water. Most of the UK projects are built in shallow waters with the turbines using monopile foundations.
It has a nameplate capacity of 24MW and was developed by SSE.
Only the German offshore sector comes close to the UK offshore in terms of capacity. Unfortunately, the most of the UK projects are built by foreign companies.
