The EnBW Baltic 1 wind farm can be found in the Baltic Sea and it was brought online in 2011. EnBW Baltic 1 is nearest to the town of Rostock and is operated by wpd.
When it comes to depths it is located in waters having a maximum depth of 10 metres. The majority of the German projects are made in deeper waters with the turbines using jacket or tripod foundations.
It features a nameplate capacity of 48.3MW and was developed by 19 municipal energy companies.
The German offshore industry is second to only the UK in terms of development. This is despite the limited coastline available.
The majority of the German projects use Bard or Senvion wind turbines. Really the only other is the M5000 developed by Multibrid.
