Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has reached a deal with employees’ representatives to reduce its workforce in Germany by 213 by the end of next year.
The job cuts are part of a restructuring programme announced in November 2017 and aim at reacting to increased competition and price pressures in both the onshore and offshore wind power industry.
The cuts will be made as palatable as possible through the use of natural wastage such as retirements to achieve the reduction.
“Germany is and will remain an important location of Siemens Gamesa,” says Marc Becker, managing director at Siemens Wind Power GmbH.
“Hamburg together with the Danish headquarter Vejle remains the centre of our global offshore business.”
